My panels make electricity. Though my next set of panels will be to heat my home.

Heating and cooling panels are dark-colored panels on your roof. During the day, in the sun, the sun heats them up, and also the air or water inside them; you can then use that heat. At night they radiate heat to the sky, and on a clear night the panels can be significantly cooler than the air. (Very few people use them for cooling though.)

Solar photovoltaic panels convert sunlight to DC electricity. Then you need an inverter to change that DC to useful AC.
