Solar before PG&E approve the operation

    Hi

I just wonder before PG&E approve the connection application. Solar is generated electric city. Where does it go? If I use in house, does electric from solar flow to my home first before taking electric from the grid?

You don't want to generate solar until PG&E gives permission to operate. Reason is; they will bill you for not only the electric they supply, but for all the electric you send their way too. They can tell it's coming to them, but they not only don't credit you with it, they bill you for it as if they were sending it your way.

I know because I turned mine on a few days before PTO and my bill reflected a charge for both the power I used from them and the power I generated that was over my house load and sent their way. It was only a few dollars. It would have been better for me to turn on stuff and net zero out the load to the solar generation.

Then, I will keep breaker off for both arrays.

But I guess I need them on for a day to configure envoy ... I guess that time I will turn my AC on.

A day or two isn't going to better much. A week or two would though.

Yeah, I like to make sure everything is really working before final inspection since I need to pay at final inspection

It totally depends. I ran mine for a number of days before the official go ahead and I didn't get net metering credit, just a $0 amount for when I was feeding into the grid.

I tested mine on last Friday. I let it run during the afternoon and it generated 19KWH. I ran AC all day long ... Today I got the daily usage for Friday and it said I used 20KWH. I would assume I do not pay for what I generate. Or my AC draws all of the Solar Generate power. I check the meter on Friday and Sat. It went up around 39 KWH. I guess there is some math going on in here.

It is a month long before PTO. I guess I will test again on tomorrow and will time it.

If PGE does not charge me for power I generate, I will keep it on until PTO.

some meters spin backwards but the dials always go up. Running a system before PTO can be costly.

Smart meter will report hourly charge from PG&E. Combine with previous usage and enphase monitor. I could guess if PG&E charge what I generate or not,

Would your insurance pay if you generated illegally, something went wrong and the house was razed to the ground?
