Great news. That's a great price. I got 2.07/watt. 1.87 is great was that back when they still had state incentives?

Now you got to make sure your panel and roof are ready. I was worried that my great price was going to evaporate with install related up charges. Hasn't happened yet but that's the next hurdle. I had a couple issues pop up in the design process and they wanted to downsize my system. I had to get my roofer and contractor on the phone with them.

Well, okay, but so is the cost of marketing, lead generation, sales commissions, etc.

I think it's plausible that the referral fee works out to be cheaper than the cost of generating a sale through other means. In which case, the referral fee doesn't add anything to the company's net sales and marketing expenses.

Unless you think sales and marketing is free, that is.

I bet it's more than plausible. Look at it from the seller's end: The referral paid out after the job is complete is added to the price quoted to the customer referred at time of quotation. Net cost = $0.00. If you don't believe that's the case, I've got a bridge for sale I'd like to talk to you about. This system has a lot of advantages for the vendor. Thinking down the road, this can create a whole sting of "referrers" whose cost to the vendor = $0.00, the cost coming from the next customer referred and successfully closed. The cost to the vendor of marketing, lead gen., commissions, etc. for this system is either $0.00 or close to it. Other costs of marketing/advertising, etc. are also borne by the customers anyway - one way or another - that's just business. This system, usually an adjunct to other marketing methods, simply shifts part of that (marketing) cost away from the customer referring to the customer referred. Hence the screw your buddy moniker. You get money supplied by your buddy. Your buddy's price goes up to pay for the referral you just got. Kind of like a pyramid scheme where you buy a franchise whose product is selling the same thing you just bought. In the limit, you become a salesperson for the vendor whose commission is paid for by "your" customers (your "buddys"), with the added advantage for the vendor that the referral paid is probably a whole lot less than what the vendor is paying a salesperson. Lots of other benefits to vendors besides financial, delineated in a prior thread.

We just had the site survey yesterday, so we are rolling right along. They have me on an expedited schedule since business has not quite picked up yet. As soon as summer comes along, they expect to be very busy.

They finished their roof survey a couple weeks ago and I just got their proposed layout plans which look exactly like we initially discussed.
They are taking care of PG&E and County approval. I just mailed off a request for approval by my HOA architectural committee.
If approvals happen in a timely fashion (not a huge rush), they said installation could be complete by the end of June.

So far, so good.

Just wanted to post an update. We got our panels installed last week and the city inspector signed off today.
I'm very happy with Sunrun/REC Solar so far. Very prompt communication with the scheduler, great installation team, everything is humming along right on schedule.
Final step: PG&E's inspection then flipping the switch.

Thanks for sharing your quote. I also live in Dublin, CA (Positano) and thinking of installing with Sunrun. I got a quote from Sunrun but it is very high compared to yours. My quote is around 4$/W before incentives (around 24,500$ for 6kw system). I mentioned about your quote and asked my agent to give me the same price. He said if I can give him your first and last name then he can look up your quote and match that. Would you be willing to share your info? . Please IM me if you can share your name.

I am in Pittsburg and our quote on the pre-paid lease end up to be 23K for 9.36kw system, 33.4K if purchase. I would be happy to share my name we have to get the best price Although this is not as good as smc I was happy and it was comparable to all other offers
