The problem is not whether the equipment is made in China or elsewhere, it is whether or not the design and manufacturing are done to the standards that a reputable company would enforce or are done by someone who has no interest in safety or repeat business.

Power Jack, for example, does not have a very good reputation and does not even attempt to get their product UL listed, since it would never pass the testing.

A guy on youtube, called knurlgnar, reviews inverters. He is truly a geek's geek. He takes them apart and evaluates construction and component quality (he also repairs broken ones). Then he puts them through their paces to see if they hold up to their advertised claims.

Being a geek, myself, last time I bought an inverter I went through all of his reviews (of my power range) and made a list:
He gave thumbs up to: samlex/thor/go-power (same company) and xantrex
Thumbs down to aims, power bright, tiger claw, centech, cobra and durafield.

But, I was not looking at 2.5KW range. eg, my notes show that he liked the power bright 3KW model. So I suggest you search his channel and see if he has reviewed any models you are interested in.
