That's interesting. In Arizona, at least with gas heat, our peak electrical usage is in the May-September timeframe that nearly coincides with solar peak production. You look to be in the opposite situation. Make sure you understand how your utility rate structure works as well as how it implements net-metering. I'm sure Rich will explain the ins and outs to you but some of these details may influence what the most cost-effective system size may be for you.

When you have both decent installer and panel, the price is the only answer you need. I'm sure they will offer you a very competitive price. Sooner you start, the more savings you have.Comment

Just a quick update. We ended up going with a 50 270 watt solarworld/solaredge system for 2.87 a watt.
We decided to go with solaredge because of the geek factor for me. Thanks everyone for the thoughts and comments. I will post pictures once the install starts.Comment

I wish I was in Maryland! Those kind of prices are unheard of in CT as pricing is about 50-75c higher. I am getting a 17kw job done at $3.25 watt (Phono 260w / Solar Edge) and it was a knock down, drag out fight between bids to get that price. My lowest bid was actually $3.07 but it was from a new company looking for jobs...Comment

Same here - I'm in Westchester also, and just got a quote for $3.857/W for 80 285W SolarWorld / SolarEdge system. Any info you could share on a better installer would be much appreciated!Comment
