String Inverter....is there any way to monitor individual panels?

    Hi there,

I am a newbie to Solar.

I understand that with micro-inverters, one can manage health & output at a panel level; but the micro-inverter systems cost more than a central inverter. Is there a way to, while using a central string inverter, manage health & output at a panel level?

    Many thanks

Only be adding an optimizer unit to each panel and interrogating them or setting up your own voltage sensing wires to each panel.
The inverter can only tell you the voltage and current at maximum power point for the entire string. That will still allow you to do some basic panel level problem detection, you just will not know which panel(s) are bad.
