Tesla Battery add on

Hello everyone
My name is Bob, and I'm new here.
Recently had a SunRun rep. come by and talked to us about adding a Tesla battery to my existing solar system. He went over our power bill and said we would only need one battery. If we leased the battery he said our electric bill would be just $140 a month, basically the lease cost, taking over our Edison bill ( except for the $12.44 a month service charge ).
Does that sound right?
Has anyone else done this, and what's your advice?

My advise is to NEVER, EVER trust a salesman that comes to your door with any promises. They are almost 100% sure to be an independent rep that takes a cut of any sale but they are very rarely an employee of the company that will do the install. When anything doesn't go as the salesman promised, the company will tell you that person was not their employee and they can't be held liable for anything the salesman promised. You could be stuck with whatever lies were told to you.

I have door-to-door people trying to sell me home storage batteries at least once a month. I ask them if they are an employee of the company that will do the install and when they say no, I say goodbye (actually, I say goodbye almost immediately to all solicitors).

We have no use for energy storage but they all think I'm an idiot and can't do the math myself. We're on a very generous RE contract for 7 more years and literally have not paid a dime to the POCO in at least 6 years. Our system up time over a 20+ year period is 99.997% so I don't need it for emergency backup power either.

If you really are interested in energy storage, search out a local company with good reviews and known track record. SunRun does not have a good reputation around here.

That's better than a door-to-door contact but you still have to get all the verbal promises in writing from the company doing the install. When I added solar, I had 3 companies quoting but only one would list and sign off on what the salesman had promised for savings (my savings and ROI ended up better than promised). Sunrun justified all their savings estimates on the assumption that energy costs would go up 3-4% per year when historically, it was no where near that before nor since. The other company was Solar City (pre-Telsa ownership) and was the worst of the three.
