    Monitoring Software

I'm in the late planning stages of a 12kw hybrid system.
I've been researching manufacturers and devices and the various designs (going with DC coupled, 15kwh battery backup, grid tie hybrid).
The one component I haven't really gotten my head around is communications/software/management systems.

Can any one give me the helicopter view of the options?
-I've read some systems require internet connection (won't work without it)
    - some systems use CanBus, some serial connection, some propriety
    - Are there good 3rd party independent software apps?

What are the major pros and cons of a given approach?
My strong preference is a system that will allow me to monitor and manage without and internet connection (I don't mind having it, but don't want it to be a requirement to access and manage my own system).

Is it a dream to imagine a system where I can load software on my PC and connect with an ethernet or wifi connection?
instant real time data would be nice also.

    Thanks

Outback has Mate3 that is used to control their system. You can then use Optics RE to remotely monitor/control your system.

The communications software is integral to your system (inverter). You get whatever they offer.
