Does anyone know if a Consumption Meter and Current Transformers "CT's" are required for a SolarEdge Inveter and a LG Chem battery for PG&E TOU discharging? Assuming not participating in any programs like SGIP. I have a SmartMeter NEM on my house. The battery would be used for both backup power and exporting back the grid. TIA

Anything on the PG & E website ? If not, what did PG & E say when you called/emailed and asked them the question ?
Seems they'd be the most likely source for an answer that had a high probability of being correct. -
Hi J.P.M., I'm waiting to get a response from solar@pge.com tried calling but sat on endless hold for an hour before hanging up.Comment

PG&E does not and cannot require you to install anything behind your meter. I have researched this and am confident that it is correct. I am a PG&E customer and have discussed behind the meter issues with them. However you should not just rely on an anonymous person on the Internet. If you are told differently by PG&E I would suggest you get written documentation to back up what they are telling you. I know several people on SGIP with PowerWalls and PG&E does monitor the power they send to the grid to make sure they don't exceed their arrangement with regard to the SGIP rebate. In those cases PG&E just uses the smart meter to monitor those customers.Does anyone know if a Consumption Meter and Current Transformers "CT's" are required for a SolarEdge Inveter and a LG Chem battery for PG&E TOU discharging? Read the terms of your NEM agreement to make sure it allows you to send stored solar energy back to the grid. That is something that you may need their permission to do. I have a GT inverter with a NEM agreement and a hybrid inverter with only a building permit. The hybrid inverter is UL certified but it is configured to not sell back to the grid.Last edited by Ampster; 03-05-2020, 11:42 AM.9 kW solar, 42kWh LFP storage. I appreciate what you are writing. I kept calling and climbing the chain of command at SDG& E. Patience and persistence are, in the end, an unbeatable combination. Call the main number and relate your lack of response on their part. Nothing can replace persistence. with enough of it, you'll get the answer your need.Hi J.P.M., I'm waiting to get a response from solar@pge.com tried calling but sat on endless hold for an hour before hanging up.Comment
