    Sonnen Batteries - price estimates

Looking at adding battery system for back up to ground mount solar. Trying to find price estimates for Sonnen and wondering if anyone might have some ballpark figures. My scenario specifically involved a eco 12 but would be interested in any esperience from folks who have obtained quotes.

Have seen several articles that speak to a 40% reduction on the eco 4 - bringing it to about $5,000 for the product only (not including installation).

Am also aware of the potential tax credit.

Found a pricelist for NJ company Enersave. Their site reads in part:
How much do Sonnen Solar battery systems cost? Sonnen solar battery systems start at $9950 for the Eco4 unit (4 kWh of electric backup) and installation is estimated to be an average of $2000 for a typical installation. The Eco4 is expandable to a total of 16 kWh of electric capacity with additional storage modules. The Eco16 unit cost is $22,800 and would be suitable for a very large home. When you decide how much electric storage you want, we can specify the correct size Sonnen battery system.
The Eco Compact unit does not have backup capability and costs $5950. It hangs on a wall and will store solar electricity produced during the middle of the day for use until solar production starts the next day. It is designed to allow solar homeowners to consume more of their solar electric production instead of exporting excess electricity to the grid. Up to four eco Compact units can be linked together to provide 16 kWh of solar storage.
    Their pricelist is as follows:

    Price list sonnenBatterie
    kW kWh MSRP
    eco 4 3 4 $9,950
    eco 6 4 6 11,950
    eco 8 4 8 13,950
    eco 10 7 10 16,750
    eco 12 8 12 18,750
    eco 14 8 14 20,800
    eco 16 9 16 22,800

Another company http://solarpurposeco.com/files/2016...Price-list.pdf has a pricelist which is similar/close.

Neither of these pricelist reflect the 40% savings that was mentioned in the articles this summer.

Do you already have the ground mount system installed? Sonnen is an Outback system and battery. If you don't already have a battery it would be cheaper and more reliable to just install an Outback as a DC coupled system instead of adding the Sonnen (white labeled Outback) in an AC coupled situation.

Thanks ButchDeal. I do have the system installed and just looking at adding battery backup. I will check out your suggestion

If you already have the system AC coupled is the solution

Like all of these new "better" batteries, if you have to ask, you can't afford it.....

The idea is to find the best system to fit our needs at the best price possible. But thanks for your 2 cents anyway. Have a great day!

I had jokers from Sonnen come out and give me estimates on compacts and ecos that were so ridiculously high it's not even funny. $5K for the most basic installations alone...

The Powerwall 2.0 for $6,500 including the installation, 14 kWh, massive 5 kW (7 kW peak) output and the built-in inverter pretty much shuts the entire party down. Game over.

that would likely just be for a load shifting solution. For backup you would have a higher install cost including an auto transformer, disconnect, and labor for setting up an emergency panel.
