We are getting a system installed with 16 panels and two Sunny Boy 3000 TL inverters each with the SPS plug and switch. SMA has also just started shipping their Sunny Boy Storage 2.5 which is "compatible" with the Tesla battery. I am new to this so forgive me if this is a silly question, but what will be required to add that new SMA unit and Tesla battery to the system we are getting?
What is needed to eventually add a Tesla Powerwall

Powerwall needs an inverter and they are primary partner with SolarEdge using SE7600A-US inverter. If your installation hasn't yet start, plan the seed early. -
Not a silly question at all. Ask the guys you're buying the inverters from ASAP. It may be hard to add later, it may be easy, but they're the ones who'll be doing the work, so ask now, maybe they can plan ahead.Comment

2 sunnyboy 3000 are around $3200 and 1 solaredge 7600 with 16 optimizers is around $2700 so you may want to reconsider.Comment

I wouldn't use any thing else other than an SMA product if it was an option.
SMA are world leaders in every respect.

http://www.pv-magazine.com/news/deta...#axzz43jS1yEGW Interesting article about the new Sunny Boy Storage. "The Sunny Boy Storage 2.5 will be released onto the German market at the latest in May, with wider European and Australian released scheduled for later in the year."
I don't see a date for USA.Last edited by Amy@altE; 03-23-2016, 09:26 AM.Solar Queen

Powerwall is a good product, but the price makes it unworthy unless you are in the area which make sense....Comment
-
They are not duplicating anything really.....remember you cant just connect PV panelsdirectly to a tesla powerwall...you still need more "stuff"Comment
-
Yes except with the solarEdge solution like all DC coupled solutions there is only one inverter. Unlike the SMA solution like all AC coupled solutions there are two separate systems, one inverter for PV and one inverter for the powerwall. A costly, complicated solution with duplicated inverters.OutBack FP1 w/ CS6P-250P http://bit.ly/1Sg5VNHComment
