LOCUS LGATE 100 SOLAR POWER METER - what do I do with it?

A couple of years ago I bought a 4.6 kW solar package that included a Locus Lgate. My Internet connection at the site is via telephone modem. The installer said that he couldn't install the Lgate because it wouldn't work on a land line. He wouldn't take it back nor give me a refund. So, its been sitting on a shelf. What was it its intended use? What can I do with it now? Can somebody else use it?

Those are a web based monitoring system that is revenue grade. Basically it will tell the output of your system and transmit the information to a website for remote viewing.
They do however require a broadband connection. Dial up does not work.
I don't know what the value of these is on a used basis. (maybe not used but it would appear to be so due to age.)

The box is a little shelf worn but the Lgate has never been out of the box. The cables and parts are still in sealed plastic bags. It is of little value to me. If anybody can use it let me know how to make contact.

Like anything electronic or electrical, as soon as you buy it the value drops 50%, and drops another 50% each year. You cannot give away an Ipod or Iphone 1.2, or 3.
