  • 50 Hz Micro Inverter

Hi, I'm doing a feasibility & design for a grid-tied commercial installation in jamaica - where the grid is 110V / 50Hz. Can anyone recommend a reliable micro inverter - enphase said their 50Hz inverters are only sold in europe

(I didn't quite understand why there would be a problem with the frequency - as i thought grid tied inverters sensed the grid frequency and synchronized the panel output to the grid ...don't they ??!!)

No they are designed for frequency of 50 or 60 Hz. Europe is single phase 240 VAC @ 50 Hz just like you use.

Thanks dereck. Can you or anyone recommend an alternative (the shipping from europe of 108 units ...and the language might be prohibitive)

Each inverter is designed to look for, and sync to, only 1 frequency, 50 or 60 Hz. Some, that can be changed with a firmware upload, some cannot be changed.

            Power One Aurora Inverter

The spec for my inverter an Aurora PVI-3600 quotes a frequency range of 47- 63 Hz I assume it synchronises to the grid frequency automatically?

were you able to get the enphase to work?

I'm not the original poster. I've never used Enphase. But reading the data sheet of the IQ7 family, they have programmable frequency range, with the widest range being 47 Hz to 68 Hz. So it should be configurable for them and should have worked.

Sometimes people miss the date of the original post. It happens when you perform a "search" for a topic but the software does not eliminate very old posts.

OK guess the admins are not using the 90 or 180 day lockout feature.
