The patent of the 215 is the same as the 225 with the addition of AR coating. It's the same panel specs plus AR coating. No deceptiveness it's a UL listed patent that has been tested under STC of both conditions. The 215 is rebadged as a 225 with new UL based on STC.
patents list general ideas, not always the fine details of the construction of things. AR coatings have been applied to optical components for years, and that itself, is not patentable.

We can see what you say you are - a PV technician.

What Rich says is correct - your imagination sometimes runs away from the facts involved.

I'm not going to bother to look but I doubt the two different panels you mention have different patents.

Patent? No mention at all on the spec sheets - WAG on your part and not even a good one.

AR coating? No mention at all on the spec sheets - means they are equal in this category - again a WAG on your part.

Cell efficiency? !7.3% vs 18.1% - different quality of cells selected by sorting as Rich mentioned.

Entertain my thoughts? On an engineers site some clown posted about Stopping Coronal Mass Ejections and Earth Quakes - Now that is entertaining - even after half a day he is still trying to defend the loony stuff he has dreamed up. He has engineers around the world ROFL.

I can guaranty the cells are the same between the 215 and the 225, I just can't release internal spec documentation. BTW sunpower offers facility tours if you would like to know more about the company.

I have nothing to lose and nothing to gain. I'm not here to exploit myself, just learn something new in the industry, or have some one learn something from me.

You can believe what you want. I guess being an engineer you don't expect to get spoon fed information.

I also planned to help some one on a decision to purchase an inverter and if he could split strings. Then it turned into 2.5 pages of anarchy and animosity. This is nuts for a forum that is just seeking information.
