Why would you ever consent to a loan at 9% a year.
If you need a loan speak with your bank, they should be able to do much better.
At this rate it makes the deal a bad one...
Depending where you are the average cost before incentives per kW of panels should be around $2/kw , so for 15.4KW, that would be around $30k, so that quote may be on the expensive side.
I would get at least 2 other quotes for outright purchase from other vendors, and speak with your bank....
my 2 cents
You also need to look at the past 12 month of electric bill, not just one month and extrapolate.
Pull the last 12 month billing and see what was you electricity consumption for the past 12 monthLast edited by scrambler; Yesterday, 04:14 AM. -

JPM is pointing out that you will be better off if you do more work on educating yourself on the ins and out of solar, before getting quotes.
It will help you navigate a sometimes very screwy world and have a better chance at avoiding the scam artists and getting ripped off.
Once you have your last 12-month electricity consumption, you may want to pick up a book called "Solar for dummies" which actually has a lot of good information.
The tool called PVWatt JPM mentioned allows you to estimate the yearly production of any solar array at your exact location, which, assuming you know your roof orientation and pitch, will help you validate how many kW of panels will be required to produce the amount of electricity you wish to cover.

Opinions vary.
Take the advice and you might learn how not to get screwed by your self-inflicted ignorance.
You might find the advice helpful.
As for nice, not everyone who tells your stuff you don't like is lying or trying to hurt your feelings.
Some folks around here appreciate the reality and correctness of the no B.S. reality as I see it and spew it that's been garnered by being around solar and alternate energy for over half a century.
Some don't.
I just forgot to add my usual disclaimer which I add now: Take what you want of the above. Scrap the rest.
Have a nice life.
The last word is yours if you want it.Last edited by J.P.M.; Today, 04:17 PM.Comment
