Sorry not solar saavy. Had my system installed in 2015. In 2017 my monitoring equipment from enphase stopped working. I have not been able to monitor my system since. I called enphase to get a quote on a new monitoring device and it will be $899. My question is do I need to buy through them and have them install or can I but one from the internet and just hook up myself? Thanks

Shouldn't that be under warranty?
And it could just be a bad configuration, not necessarily a hardware issue... -
Warranty on the monitoring device was 2 years. The panels, inverters, etc. are all working. It was just the device that captures the generation and sends to the APP so I can track my system. So, for $899 a tech will come out and setup a new monitoring device, but I was wondering can't i do that myself? Just buy something off amazon or since I am not tech savvy do I need to spend the money and have them do it.Comment

Someone with enphase experience would need to comment.
The main question is do you need enphase to link a new device to your account, and if so, would enphase cooperate to add the device to your monitoring account if you purchased a unit second hand...Comment

Have you asked for a detailed offer listing the hardware required, its price and the price of installation.
This would allow you to see if the hardware can be purchased used somewhere else, and if so you could ask if they would only charge the installation.Comment

Use Emporia to monitor solar production......it does a lot of other useful monitoring also. I had to replace my TED system and my research sent me to Emporia. Works well.Comment
