So how do you make sure the connectors on your solar modules will work with your optimizers if the cut sheets only say MC4 compatible which don't mean crap since UL has no standard.

There was an article in SolarPro magazine a few years ago that analyzed how well all the different "MC4" connectors actually interconnected. In general, they are all compatible, however there were a few that were not. And we have had occasional difficulties. I would not worry about it...BSEE, R11, NABCEP, Chevy BoltEV, >3000kW installed -
I have to disagree because the 2020 NEC requires a testing agency like UL to"list and identify for interminability" when the connectors are not of the same type and brand. Sec 690.33 C
The folks writing the codes don't just add stuff, there is always a large enough sampling size to warrant it. (I've seen plenty of changes to it the past 40 years) In fact 1981 NEC didn't even have Sections 690, 705 or 710

IMHO connectors are cheap, worse case snip off the offending connectors and put in a matched pair.Comment
