Hi,
I am after a bit of advice. I want to get a portable solar panel and controller that will able to charge:
a) ALLPOWERS 288Wh power generator (lith-ion)
b) A lead-acid battery REC10-12 (12V 10Ah) Cyclic VRLA
c) Ultramax LI10-12 12v 10Ah lithium Iron phosphate
The requirement is when I am fishing I need to keep the generator topped up for my laptop, and the other batteries are for a bait boat.
I am looking at getting a portable 100W solar panel, but what I am struggling with is to find a good small / portable solar controller that I can charge both Lead/Acid and Lithium Ion.
I was looking at this:
But not sure it could do both Lead/Acid and Lithium.
I am a complete novice!
Many thanks
Matt
Most standard charge controllers are not set up to charge Li batteries. You usually need some type of BMS or battery management system to properly balance each cell. Also a 100watt portable solar panel may put out 4.5 to 5 amps max which is good for a 50Ah lead acid battery.
I would check what the Allpowers generator accepts in solar charging as an option and go with that instead of using a standard PWM type charge controller.Leave a comment:
