  • Renogy cables for connecting panel strings to conduit wire in junction box

I am doing a grid-tie ground-mount system with a string inverter with two MPPT inputs, so two strings of panels.

I'mm going to use these Renogy cables:

... to connect the ends of the strings to THHN - in a PVC junction box with conduit running to the inverter.

    Two questions:

    1. What is the outside diameter of the cable (for the 10awg size) ?

    2. Is there anything wrong with taking the cable that has an MC4 connector at both ends and cutting it, to make the cables I need to connect one string ? As opposed t the adapter kit they sell (the other link), which is two cables with MC4 connector at one end and bare wire at the other end.

No idea of the cable OD

Taking a factory made cable, and cutting it in half to preserve your panel cables, is a valid method to splice into the lines.

Starting to wonder about Renogy. They actually show a diameter of 0.23" at the website, without bothering to say if it's the 10awg or 12awg version (they are all one product page). Meanwhile, I asked at Amazon, and someone supposedly "from the mfg'r" said it's 4mm.

I ordered the cables, but haven't received any sort of confirmation. I've sent emails and voicemails asking when my order might ship, as well as a clarification on this diameter question, and ... crickets. I hate to contribute towards Bezos' trillionaire quest, but Amazon has 'em and will get 'em here in 2 days; don't need 'em that quickly, but at least I won't have to wonder what diameter they really are, so I can drill the j-box for the glands.
