    solar air con

    I need some advise on setting up a system to run a 12000 btu air con off grid need to run this system 24/7 i have 10 solar panels 250w 37,25 volts. just need to get some idea of batteries needed what size inverter . air con is split system rated input 1550 watts very new to this thanks paul

    Well for a 1550 watt AC system running 24/7 you are going to need a lot of batteries.

    To start with the battery size you can multiple that 1550 watts x 24hours = 37200watt hours. Now divide that 37.2kwh by the battery voltage which due to the large kw value I would go with 48V.

    37200wh / 48v = 775Ah. Now you should make sure you never discharge that battery system more than 25% so divide that 775Ah / 25% = 3100Ah.

    So your battery system will need to be 48V 3100Ah in size. Based on that size you will need about 6 times that 2500 watt in panels or about 15kw.

    Do you still want to run that AC system 24/7 using solar and batteries? It would be much cheaper to get a generator and use that.
