    SolarEdge Monitoring Frequency

I am (in)patiently awaiting my solar installation. It's a 9.9 kWh system with a SolarEdge HD Wave inverter. I am also have a SolarEdge energy monitor installed. For communicating back to SolarEdge they are installing a GSM cellular antenna. From what I have been able to find online so far, this would only record data every 15 minutes and send that data to SolarEdge every four hours. One of the reasons I wanted to energy monitor was to be able to see in some what real time what my consumption of energy is. Does anyone know if there is a way to increase the frequency in which the inverter would report back to SolarEdge using the cellular modem? If I ran an ethernet cable to the inverter would that solve my issue?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

First it is a 9.9kW system not kWh

yes if you used ethernet or ethernet repeater you would be able to get more reports back to solaredge.

One more correction: Impatient, not inpatient.

Lesson learned. I need to be better about proofreading.

Only way to get the data more often is to connect the inverter using an Ethernet cable. You can either run the Ethernet cable back to your router or you could setup a Wi-Fi bridge.

we have a 9.3 system, and solaredge was suppose to update every 15mins- BUT we had problems with the system going down, and the installers added/deleted something and now we are updated every 4hrs - since this change (2yrs ago) all has been working ok.... BUT... i paid for every 15mins... not every 4hrs

As far as I know, cell data systems only upload every 4 hours. You will need an ethernet connection.

Sounds to me that you were setup to use your house's internet but because of the issues you were experiencing 2 years ago (maybe weak signal, changed the WiFi password, etc.) they changed it to use Cellular service. When you use the Cellular service, it only updates every 4 hours. The only way to get the 15 minute updates is to use the LAN port inside the inverter.

To use the LAN port, you can either run an Ethernet cable from your inverter to your internet router, or you can run an Ethernet cable from the inverter to a wifi adapter that connects to your house's Wi-Fi.

thanks.. that exactly what the installer said... since the system has worked without a hiccup for the 2yrs since changing to 4hrs... i keep it at 4hrs... when the system went in, i'd check it all the time ..like a madman... now i'll check it once /twice a day, sometime i'll go 2-3 days without checking...

a couple of observations... between the '2' houses i have with solar, we have had to swap out '4' optimizer's since the 1st system has been installed about 4yrs ago ... which is one of the reasons i check online as offen as i do... the other is that maybe there is something to this 'global warming' thing.... dec 2018, n jan/feb/mar of this year we have had the best production since installed...
