How do I buy the right solar panel for our house?

    Hi,

I'm thinking of buying solar panels for our house for environmental and financial reasons. I'm new to this world and do not know where to start from. I've learned that there are many solar companies and products and there are so many resources here and other websites. To those with more experience, what's the easiest way for me to find out what I need to buy and get it setup on our roof?

    Thank you for your help

    Welcome

First thing is to discover what your daily power usage is .

do an energy audit of your appliances, replacing energy hogs with efficient models will go a long way to saving money.

Look for a free PDF of a book called Solar Power for Dummies. That book is a great start and covers a lot of terms and other basics

After you have made your house efficient, THEN you can start shopping for solar gear and installing a much smaller (less expensive) system to offset your usage

And before you buy anything, check with your power company and find out what they allow for solar connections to their grid.
