    Random spikes of energy used

    Has anyone expierenced looking at the energy used for the day and see random spikes of energy even when you are not home and everything is off including heat and air conditioning. In my case almost the whole day it will show 350-400 watts and then randomly 1700 watts and no one is home. Is this normal ? Does it have to do with inverter possibly since it happens around noon sometimes when the inverter is Converting more energy? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated while I try to figure this mystery out

    Got a freezer that is "frost-free"? It will do a defrost cycle, normally once a day, which turns on a 1000+ watt heating element inside your freezer. That may be it.

      What is your measuring device? Your production curves look odd and the consumption spikes follow the production issues.

          I get them too, and can only assume it's a fridge compressor, or the defrost. it's not a perfect 24 hour cycle though.. When running the generator in the shed, I hear it lug way down for 2-3 seconds, longer than a fridge starting up (in the house, I hear the fridge start up, <1 sec ) My XW Combox, logs via the inverter internal sensor, spikes of 3Kw or so, for close to a minute, day or night, matters not. i thought it was the toaster at first, but draws more power than the toaster.

            Those aren't real. They come from poor synchronization between the data reported by Solaredge and the data collected by the Eagle. The Solaredge data is 5 min *instantaneous*, while the Eagle provides a 5 min *average*. Those 5 min periods aren't perfectly aligned, so even if they were both averages, you'd still have a problem.

            Keep in mind, the consumption curve you are looking is derived.

            Instant Consumption = Imported Power through the meter + Generated Power.

            If you have a data point in which the Eagle sees a net export, but a cloud passed quickly by and Solaredge reported low generation, PVOutput might calculate a negative number for consumption (which is impossible) and does it as zero. The same mismatch in the opposite direction makes spikes.

            I bought a 3rd party monitoring system for my inverter that I can synchronize in my own script, substantially reducing the problem.

            On clear days, your data will be fine.
