    Hi from Puerto Rico

    Hi,
    Totally new to this.
After Hurricane Maria my friend decided to leave Puerto Rico. In storage he had 4 MSX120 panels and 8 6v Golf cart batteries.
All unused but old and with a good luck handshake he said goodbye.
    Now for my question:
We know we'll be without power for at least 4 months. And rather than investing in a generator I'd like to go solar for my refrigerator, 1 TV, 2 laptops and maybe a fan.
    What is recommended?
    What inverter and charge controller?
    Any other recommendations appreciated...
    Thanks

    How old are the batteries?
When was the last time they were charged?
Are they sealed or do they have removable caps to add Distilled Water?
I am very worried about the batteries

    For a 24 Volt system ...

    EXAMPLES:
    a 24 Volt Pure Sine Wave Inverter 1000 watt, 2000 watt surge? ( Samlex ~ $450 )
    a 24 Volt 20 Amp MPPT Charge Controller ( TriStar ~ $380 )

I am sure you can find less expensive.

A Honda EU1000 Generator is $700 + 1 to 2 Gallons of gas every day for 4 months (shutdown while sleeping?)

I think they are over 10yrs old and been in storage that long. Oddly enough I checked a few of them and the have better 1.1 to 2.5 charge.
      caps and full.
Because of limited Cellular and internet service it may take me awhile to get an answer from my buddy.

      Thanks
