I am having trouble getting details on how to activate the SPS based on instructions in the inverter manual. Several times I have toggled the switch and plugged in a lamp while it's sunny out. However, nothing seems to happen. When I check the logbook via the sunny portal, I see "SPS mode not available". What are the requirements for getting SPS to turn on? Is there a minimum number of watts the panels need to be producing? Is there a minimum load? I cannot find any mention of minimums in the manual.

How about need for the grid going down? It is designed to operate when the grid fails.

Yeah, you'll need to flip off the breaker to the inverter if you want to use the SPS when the grid is up.CS6P-260P/SE3000 - http://tiny.cc/ed5ozxComment

I can't find anything in the manual about that being a requirement. I suppose I could flip the circuit breaker where the inverter feeds into the meeter as a fake grid disconnect.Comment

Ok, so I guess I need to do the following:
1) Flip the circuit breaker on the electric panel where the inverter feeds in
2) Toggle the SPS switch
3) Plug in a lamp
Is that correct?

Something like that. You may need to give the inverter a few minutes to decide the grid is in fact down.2.2kw Suntech mono, Classic 200, NEW Trace SW4024Comment

I think the load is supposed to be plugged in before you toggle the SPS switch. I'm not sure if it matters though.CS6P-260P/SE3000 - http://tiny.cc/ed5ozxComment

The inverter must not sense grid voltage present, so that it can make the internal changes to deliver power to the isolated SPS outlet instead. Once grid power comes back SPS will not shut down automatically and the grid connection will not come back on unless you toggle the switch to turn SPS off.
If SPS shuts down because the load requires more power than is available from the PV at any moment, it will automatically try to start up again after a time delay, hoping that the load has gone down or the amount of PV has gone back up.Last edited by inetdog; 06-08-2017, 07:33 PM.SunnyBoy 3000 US, 18 BP Solar 175B panels.Comment
