Hi, how long should batteries last for. We have a 24v system with 2v batteries (lead acid) My husband takes good care of the batteries. We have had them for eight years and one failed a few weeks ago and had to be replaced we now have maybe one or two more that look like they may be on the way out.

I agree with WWW. 3000 cycles sounds about right. Once one has failed the others will soon follow.
What is the make and model of those batteries and what would you estimate have been the DOD (depth of discharge) you have taken them down to on average each day?Comment

Thank you, so eight years is about right for the life of the batteries. I can´t tell you about DOD or model and make as that is my husbands dept. I do know that we paid a lot for good quality ones.Comment

I understand. Even the high end Trojan 2 volt batteries are great for off grid solar but still may not get much more than 3500 cycles unless you baby them with very low daily discharges.Comment

If you can live with less power you can replace batteries with 6 volt cells for about Half the cost and less than half the power. but your load habits would need major reduction or the new batteries could last half as long.Comment
