Inverter compatibility question: Sun Power SPR 3000M to replace Sunny Boy 2500US

Hello all, first post!

3 of my four SMA 2500 US inverters working with 160 Siemens 75 watt panels have died on me. Thinking of replacing them with the Sun Power SPR 3000M. My installer says they are not compatible unless the grounds are reversed which could void warranty.

SMA tech support says the SPR 3000M is identical to their SMA 3000US and is perfectly compatible.

Does anyone know who is correct?

The Sunpower inverter DC+ is grounded. See page 60 of the manual.

The SMA 2500 US probably has DC- grounded. I think your installer is correct, but maybe you could push SMA tech support to explain why they think they could be interchanged.

About 11 years on 3. The last one is still ticking.
