    making 60v

Is it possible to wire 3x80w 12v panels and one 250w 24v panel in series to make 60v??

What are the Imp of each of the panels? I believe they should be pretty close (<10% different - maybe even closer) in order to do this. Otherwise, you won't get the power you expect. The reason is, the same current is flowing through all of them at once.

Like any other circuit, wiring voltage sources in series will produce the sum of the voltages. But the
current that can be drawn will be limited to whatever the weakest source can supply. Bruce Roe

Thanks heaps, just checked and they are identical 8.33.
Would I be best to wire them this way or run my 12v panels in pairs and then parallel with the 24v panels I have 6x 12v panels and two 24v panels, they go into an 80 amp outback controller, thanks again

I really doubt those 80 watt panels have a Imp = 8.33. Better check again

You are looking for the Vmp and Imp rating for each type panel. That will help to find the best wiring pattern for you.

What you want is for parallel, the Vmp's to be the same or very close. For series connections, the Imp.

So hypothetically, if you had identical panels with the same Imp, you could put those in series, and add the Vmp's to get an a total Vmp. Call this a "module". Now, if that total Vmp is identical or very close to another "module" (either a single panel, or a string of panels), those modules can be paralleled. I hope that makes sense. Match Vmps for paralleling, Imps for series.

The number of panels has doubled since your first post. What is the total wattage you are looking for?
