    Racking Question SnapNrack vs. IronRidge

The equipment was delivered yesterday for our 18 panel Tenk Solar system. I noticed that the racking is by SnapNrack instead of the IronRidge that was included in the original proposal. The installer has stated that change is due to single source procurement (all through Werner Electric) for better vendor accountability and warranty when possible. Also that the racking interface is better with SnapNrack to match with the TenK residential modules. My quick review found that SnapNrack carries a 10 year warranty and IronRidge 20 year. Can anyone weigh in on the differences between the two?
Thanks in advance - we're southeast of St. Paul.

Can't comment on the difference, but you should also check with your city. In your permit application, all the mounting HW should have been clearly specified. I'm not sure if you can change it without changing the application or at least put in an addendum.

I talked with the city and they didn't even know what racking was. They will defer to the manufacturer's installation instructions and are not particular to what is installed as compared with what was included in the permit submittal. Being in the permit review business for a different industry, I was quite surprised but, then again, this is the first residential system to go in under their permitting system and with this staff I gather. Solar products are not in my wheelhouse so I've sent a list of questions to my installer about the decision, warranty, mounting specs etc. Since it's all sitting in my garage, I'm guessing he won't give me any compelling reason to hold out for the IronRidge and delay the project but I need to do my due diligence.
