    Tracer 20A MPPT Charge controller

    Hi all,

I apologise if this is in the wrong place or if this has already been covered.

I am running a 20A tracer MPPT charge controller but i would like to be able to use it to charge my batteries from the mains aswell.

This may be a stupid question but could i take the feed from a 20A 12VDC mains transformer and put that into the solar panel input of the charge controller?

Also, would this work with a 40A MPPT and a 20A transformer?

    1. There is no such thing as a DC transformer. You are talking about a mains fed 12V DC power supply or battery charger.
    2. No, you can never (well hardly ever) run a non-current limited constant voltage source into the input of any MPPT device. (Nor for that matter into a PWM device!)
