Solar panel orientation question (not about azimuth)

Hello,
my first post here.

Not to sound silly, but been wondering does solar panels have orientation? I mean top or bottom.

I am installing Jinko (JKM440N-54HL4R-B) solar panels with Tigo optimizers, and cant decide or find any info regarding their orientation. And by orientation i do not mean which side they are facing, but top or bottom. Since its a half cut panel, connections are in the center of panel and there i no difference if i rotate it 180 dergees, they are still at the same place.

Why i am wondering is that panels do have their serial numbet sticker under the glass, and it feels that it should be on one of the top corners, so that should be considered TOP of the panel, but when i attach TIGO optimizer, positve and negative cables criscross each other. If i rotate the panel, cables don not cross each other while connecting TIGO.

So i am in the need of some insight on orientation of half cut panel, is there a difference if i rotate it?

In the context of your question, no, especially with the current split cell panels having dual, midline junction boxes. In other scenarios it clearly does matter.

Rotation does not matter, mine are oriented to whatever gives

Here in Baja there's lots of tilted arrays on flat roofs. I can't tell you why they want to mount the panels, in portrait fashion, with the J-boxes at the low end of the rack. It becomes a real pain to troubleshoot problems when the boxes are 6 inches off the surface of the roof. I think there is a bit more chance of water intrusion when sitting this way. I believe if you are mounting panels upright the J-box should go up.
With the new 120 and 144 half cell panels being designed to mitigate some shadow losses, they are intended to be oriented in a portrait fashion. These panels are basically two panels in one and if the shadows tend to creep up from the bottom of the panels the top half of the panel is totally unaffected by the shadow on the lower half. That being said, they aren't supposed to be mounted in Landscape fashion.
