  • storing panels before installation

I just took delivery on my panels, but it looks like it's going to be several months before I can install them.

I'm wondering if it's suitable to store them simply leaving them in a stack, upside down, on my deck ? Obviously they'll be exposed to the elements when installed, so it seems ok. The only issues I can imagine are something like mold growing on them due to moisture being retained (especially as they are upside down). Should I consider another plan such as just leaning them up against the wall of my house, with the bottom edge sitting on something to keep it out of the mud and the blood and the beer ?

I suggest you check the leads of each one are plugged together, shorted. This will
not hurt the panel. If you leave them hanging unplugged in the elements, the contacts
(which are NOT expensive noble metal in an MC4) will start oxidizing. I have had to
cut some off and splice on new ones after leaving them a few seasons. Bruce Roe

Generally, they are shipped face up. The backside is likely more susceptible to weather than the glass front. My spare panels are indoors

Not a good idea to just lean them if you have any considerable winds in your area.
