  • Grounding wire routing

    Hi friends,

Just a quick question, Can the grounding wire attached to the panels be placed in the conduit that the positive and negative wires are located or should the ground cable be on the outside of the conduit? Or can it be either way?

    Thanks.

Ok, I just caught myself here. I'm told an uninsulated grounding wire cannot be placed in a conduit with insulated conductors, is this not correct?

I have never hear that...most people run insulated (I believe) because insulated has multiple strands and flexes easier when running through conduit.

Perhaps I should pull it out, since it setting on the ground at this point and put insulated ground wire in. Does it have to be 6 AWG or is 8 AWG ok Boston?

My jurisdiction requires #8AWG but you will have to check yours. As Boston said, it is easier to pull stranded wire.
