    Hi Guys,
Is this 24v configuration ok or can it be improved?

First is wrong. Both connections made on same battery stack.
      Second is right.
See http://www.smartgauge.co.uk/batt_con.html for another view. Treat each series pair as if it were one 24V battery.

The configuration I initially had was similar but due to the positions of each individual battery the connections were longer than necessary.
Now having read the link you provided I realize more the importance of resistance.
Hence an additional question if I may.
The physical position of the batteries in the above diagram is as close as I can get to reality.
ie all the posts are very close together as opposed to before having all the batteries in a single line.
          My question.
Can I use a flattened out rigid copper pipe/tube with holes for the terminals at each end instead of cable and lugs?
I had and old solar water heater that is no longer usable and I was left over with lots of copper piping.
          Will it be more functional?
          Cheers Mike
