  • How Shall We Choose Right Solar Mounting Structure

    Our company have a 1.2 mega watts solar farm will be install in next few months, but not sure fixed solar mounting or track solar mounting we need, you know the tracking solar mounting is much expensive and not easy to maintain, but it is better for get the most solar radiation. Fixed solar mounting is easy for installation and cost less, so i just want to guys give some helpful thinking, thank you

    If you have the space, fixed is the way to go the additional cost and maintenance for tracking panels would be far better spent on more panels. Automatically tracking arrays used to make sense at $10 a watt for a panel but at $0.50 a watt hard to justify. Since you didn't say where you were in the world, if you live in climate that has snow, tracking arrays generally have an advantage in that they can either be manually set or automatically set at a steep angle that is less prone to snow buildup. In either case if the installation is in flat field at higher latitudes the controlling factor is the spacing between panel rows. As he sun angle drops for winter operation the panel spacing has to widen out a lot to make sure that one row doesn't shade the row behind it.

      Also note, single axis tracking usually involves a very long axis parallel to the ground, following sunrise
      to sunset plus dumping snow. This becomes less efficient with increasing latitude, since it is not practical
      to prop the axis up to parallel to earth spin axis. A higher DC to AC ratio is then needed. Bruce Roe
