Do standing seams of metal roof need to be located over trusses?

I read somewhere that when using clamps on standing seam metal roofs, it is best to have the standing seams aligned with trusses. My contractor said that he never had a request like that. My trusses are 24" OC and my standing seams could be 16" OC so theoretically, I could align every other standing seam over a truss or rafter. Is this necessary? My contractor said that each standing seam metal panel is screwed down with 20 screws so this alignment is unnecessary. My home is being built in Hawaii where we occasionally have tropical storms.
Thanks in advance for any comments or advice.

It is not required. Aligning them would be impractical, and most SS roofs are already installed before thinking about solar, and aren't aligned.
As long as you follow the installation instructions for the mounts, you won't have a problem. The number of mounts required will vary with your required wind load, roof type, roof geometry and type of panel.
Look into S-5! solar mounts, and ask them for installation requirements.
