Truss or rafter scanners and Sensors.

Has anyone used some of the higher end stud finders, scanners, sensors for locating trusses or rafters through a comp roof and OSB? As most of you know a tool that actually works would save an install crews a lot of time. But I don't want to spend a bunch of money to find out there are as useless as the basic stud finder.

BTW, my wife once held up one of my stud sensors and told a crew, "this is what I used to find my husband" Not to toot my horn, she keeps up pretty well.

Yes we use an extremely high tech tool. It works very well finding the rafters on an asphalt shingle with ply or osb sheathing. The cost varies depending on the model chosen but all work equally well

I just use my finger tips to thump the wall or a thin sewing needle on sheet rock.

I do have one of the electronic stud finders, used it once and have never used it again as a thump and a good ear is faster.
