I have a grid tie system 30 panels 10 in each string . Each string is producing 402 to 409 volts open current volts . Between the panels and inverter I installed a set off dc breakers each rated up to 1200 volts dc . At one side of the brackers positive from the panels is 402 to 409 volts when I turn on the breaker on the volts drop to 12 .8 volts on both side of the breaker . Is this because the panels are not under a load? I.e. At dusk ? I'm using the dc breakers as a dc emergency shut off .
New to this . Need help finishing install of solar system

How are you measuring voltage? The grid tie inverter might be floating, so measurements to ground could be misleading.CS6P-260P/SE3000 - http://tiny.cc/ed5ozxComment

Meter on postitve one on negative for each string as soon as I turn the breaker on voltage drops to 12.8 . Turn it off and back to 400 or so .Comment

Sounds like you've got a miswired inverter. Want to post some pictures of each of the junctions/terminals from the dc breaker to the inverter?CS6P-260P/SE3000 - http://tiny.cc/ed5ozxComment

Ha , you where right! had a positive and neg on one string reversed from breakers to inverter and it was affecting all of the strings ! ThanksLast edited by Gilscessna; 07-02-2016, 05:42 PM.

Now that I'm done can I turn the system on to test it ? Or do I wait till after its inspected ? Does power company need to install meter first ?Comment
