A village near by Belthangadytaluk in Karnataka has no electricity access. Individual houses of the village are provided with a 220V, 1500rpm DC motor for ceiling fan which is powered by a solar panel. The ratings of solar panel are as follows: Solar PV module consists of 36 cells connected in series, series combination of 36 cells will provide 21.6 V.
1) how many number of solar panels are requried to get 220V and, what type of connection has be made??

Normally you would use solar panels to charge a battery which could then run that DC fan motor. I am not sure why a house would be provided with 220V and a DC motor.

I would need more information on that fan motor such as wattage, voltage and amp rating. From that information the battery size could be calculated and then the solar panel wattage.

It is hard to read that nameplate. It looks like that motor is rated for 5 HP which is very big and will require a lot of solar panels.

Please don't supply 220 V to a ceiling fan with that motor... 1500 RPM will get someone hurt.

Low voltage with sufficient current to get over the no load amps is what you want, although it will be much less efficient than using a motor more suited to this task.

You can not properly charge a battery by connecting it directly to solar panels. You can run a DC fan motor from a battery but the fan needs to be rated at the battery voltage

Say if the fan motor is rated 75w at 12volt then you could run it for about 8 hours from a 250AH battery. The battery can be charged from solar pv panels using a Charge Controller. Depending on how much sun you get you would need at least 300 watts of solar panels and a 30 amp MPPT charge controller.

Motor power ratings assume they are delivered the rated torque. Rated power does not need to be supplied if the rated torque is not needed.

You could probably run that motor direct off a solar panel during daylight hours, without a battery, if the panel can provide enough current. A brush type PMDC motor can run off a battery as long as the motor's rated voltage is equal to or higher than the battery, and the battery can handle the discharge current necessary to provide the required torque. As the supplied voltage decreases from the rated value, the motor rpm's will decrease from the rated rpm's proportionally.

Using a 5 HP motor for a ceiling fan makes no sense. It probably weighs 200 lbs or more. How are you going to attach it, and do you really want that much weight vibrating overhead? I hope there is some kind of misunderstanding about what it looks like you want to do.

It varies. A 100watt panel with a Vmp = 18volts can generate ~ 5.5 amps (100w / 18v = 5.55a). Although a 200 watt panel might have a Vmp = 35v so it will only produce 5.7amps.

I am not sure which direction you are leaning toward. But I will ask what is the voltage and amp rating for that 75watt motor?

At 220volt you will not be able to easily run it directly from a battery because 220v is not close to a standard size or easy to build up to. You will also have a problem trying to run that motor directly from solar panels again because the voltage is too high.
