multiple inverters, different orientations, sub panel

    Hello all,

    Just a few questions.

1 Because of the CSI rebate program we are required to use seperate inverters for each orientation. My question is: Does the required calculation- main breaker + inverter breaker < 120% buss- refer to each inverter seperately or is it the total amps that can be backfed to the main panel?

    E.G. two inverters..one 7 kW, the other 3 kW.

2 We have a Zinsco main panel....200 main, 200 buss. No room for new breakers and all existing are twins. Is it ok to remove some breakers and add a sub-panel to the removed spots. then add the new inverter breakers to the sub-panel, along with the original breakers that were removed.

3 In a sub-panel situation, Does the calulation- main breaker + inverter breaker<120% buss-
refer to the sub-panel or the main panel?

    Thanks...hope to hear your remarks.

    Each feeder from each inverter.

Zinoc panel and breakers huh? Bad news. I am surprised any electrician would do an install if they cannot change out the Zinco stuff as they do not want to get caught dead being the last electrician to work on the panel and be held liable. You need to do some research on Zinco as they have been traced to root cause of thousands of home fires.
