Array Grounding On A Metal Building

I am building a red iron steel building that my array is mounting to. It will have a 200 amp 4 wire panel that is fed from my house 200 amp 4 wire main panel.

The metal building by design is Earth Grounded. Doesn't this create a second earth ground in this situation? I know you want all grounding from the array to go to the common house earth ground.

What am I missing here?

I read all the way through this thread http://www.solarpaneltalk.com/showth...strategy/page3 and the grounding stuff is crazy and even the 2014 NEC has some dangerous changes.

Any thoughts?

Yes, well you'll have a hard time getting even any two electrical inspectors to agree on Code grounding issues.
While the steel building is going to provide you some grounding for your array, you really can't count on it and should install a dedicated ground to your panels. The new integrated grounding clamp systems that are common now are the way to go. Think of it as belt and suspenders for your lightning collectors -er solar panels.

I am grounding the entire rack and array to the panel but I was just concerned that this panel is grounded to the main panel but also has an earth ground from the building. I thought that two different earth ground sources in one electrical distribution system was a No-No. Fault path stuff is like a Voodoo science

It varies with AHJ, but around here if you are more than 200' from the main service, they want a 2nd ground rod anyway.
