    Clay Tile roof install.

What is the best way to install pv onto a clay tile roof. I see lots of products out there but not to many reviews on them.

Also is my thinking correct if I buy 150watt panels there average output is 1KWH thus with me being in souther California the average I should get is around 7KWH From each panel? This is not including efficiency loss.

Im looking to start a small build that I can expand on. So I can get some benefits before the air condition season starts.

    Thanks
    Chris

because of permits and labor costs, it's best to define what you want first, and then build it. Adding on a little and then a little more, is not going to save you money in the long run.

I've not seen a good install over spanish (half round) tile. The best was to strip the roof under the array area, install asphalt shingles, and the array over that. Array both hides and protects the asphalt shingles, and you avoid a tile breaking 6 months from now as stress builds.

Only cost would be permits pulled. I would do all labor myself. This will be my second install. I did a 90 panel array install at my folks but it was on the ground. So would be first roof install type. I was hoping to use something like the fastjack removing the tiles were the jacks go flashing them in then installing the track railing between the jacks so the panels are lifted above the tile.

For airflow around the panels, you want at least 4" between the tiles and the roof. Try reading up on tile roof installs before you start in.

I will. I have been trying to research the best way to handle this. But almost every product out there say not for clay tile install. Which seems odd since a lot of California homes have clay tile roofs. Im the type of person that finds the method then research's all the codes to go with it.

Then im worried to ask an install shop around here as the seem to be popping up all over the place so cant verify anyones credibility.
