    solar is not viable when you have cheap hydro-electric power at hand.
    Powerfab top of pole PV mount (2) | Listeroid 6/1 w/st5 gen head | XW6048 inverter/chgr | Iota 48V/15A charger | Morningstar 60A MPPT | 48V, 800A NiFe Battery (in series)| 15, Evergreen 205w "12V" PV array on pole | Midnight ePanel | Grundfos 10 SO5-9 with 3 wire Franklin Electric motor (1/2hp 240V 1ph ) on a timer for 3 hr noontime run - Runs off PV ||

Is that unethical because it forces a cost on my fellow consumers? I think that depends on how you look at it. In the short term, I understand how this would anger some people. However, in the long term, solar will only become more viable. It's coming. Sticking your head in the sand won't stop it. Might as well get experience managing and implementing it now.
      Solar power production is well less than 1% of total - even after years of subsidies etc. Major changes in storage and efficiency have to come about before it even reaches 2%. What sticking of the head in the sand?

        You said no battery system because it never has an ROI. With your electric rates not even a grid tied system has an ROI and will only raise your electric rate. Nothing has changed but your opinion which is illogical. Not OK to loose money on a battery system, but OK with you to loose money on a GT system. That is illogical captain.

        Facts are solar has not offset any emissions and never will as it is not possible. There is only one long term answer for cheap clean energy and we have over 10 million years of fuel right here under your feet that pays big bucks in jobs and development. Nuclear energy is the only answer. Every scientist, engineer, and politician knows it. It is John Doe Public US citizen who is ignorant. So who has their head stuck in the sand?
