NEC 690.34 flexible wiring system - Can you use EMT between branch circuit j-boxes?

Does this mean that you can't use EMT on the roof? I don't like using flexible conduit.

SO INSTALLED THAT THE WIRING CONTAINED IN

THEM CAN BE RENDERED ACCESSIBLE DIRECTLY

EMT is fine on the roof. Just keep it a couple of inches up from the roof. What they are referring to is the wiring from the panels to the junction box and the string wiring to allow a panel to be removed if necessary to get to the junction box
