    New to forum

Hi, I am new to the forum. Basically I am sick and tired of paying the high cost of electricity. I am here to learn about different solar methods and perhaps wind power to get off the "grid". Self made items, low cost would be great!!

    Welcome to SPT!

You've come to the right place to learn about solar and stuff. Depending on where you're from, a grid connected solar setup is probably best. That way you use the grid as your battery and can get paid for the excess power that your solar system generates that gets pushed back onto the grid.

      Welcome.
For the post part, solar PV systems, are expensive, because they need to move and process a LOT of power (enough to run your house) and be safe and reliable.

Self made solar heating systems are pretty safe, DIY solar panels are good to learn about solar, and store bought gear, with UL certification is needed to mount and connect to a house, or you void your insurance coverage.
