    New member - hello

    Hi all,

Just to introduce myself - I'm an architect/constuction professional, and am building an off-grid 150sqm house/villa in Greece. I'm a Londoner and based there.

I have 40 years experience in construction, and hence am building the house myself, with the help of a local architect as this is the regulation in Greece. I am currently a third the way through the build, and will be completely off-grid, utilising a system to meet the requirements of both myself and the house. I have been researching for 6-7 years the use of an off-grid PV system, so hope I can interact and gain advice and knowledge while this is all being built. I currently have a 3KW PV system setup in a 40sqm outhouse I built, to stay in while I am in Greece to build the main house.

Anyway, just a little hello from me, and I look forward in discussing and helping out while on this forum.

Seems like a third of the way through a build may be a little late to gain useful knowledge and advice for this project.

1.) What were your design goals for this structure?
2.) What measures have you taken in terms of design details to meet your goals?
3.) Besides the 3 kW system you mention, what other conservation design experience do you, or your other architect have such as any passive solar design or site design experience that you have incorporated in the design?
4.) What titles/systems/software have you used or become familiar with during your 6 - 7 year PV knowledge quest?

Welcome to the forum of few(er) illusions.

      Hi Pinky,

Welcome aboard, lots of good info and experienced people on here from time to time.

Searching the stickies under your topic can be a good way to start, at the end of the day when it comes to design you need to do a loads analysis to start with to determine how many kW/hrs. per day and expected max draw. Cheers

Welcome aboard Pinky. As solar pete mentioned there are a number of stickies posts to look at on this forum. Going off grid will require work by you to keep your batteries safe. Good luck and let us know how you make out with your build
