    Solar System Gilroy, CA

    Hi,

I just finished a solar system installation at a friends property. He is off grid and bought a nice 300W system.
The system has a 300W and 1300W inverter. We wired each inverter to a trailer, one on each phase.
The kitchen has the 1300W inverter to run a toaster, coffee maker or microwave and the 300W inverter is wired
to the living room to charge cell phones and laptops. Many lights have been upgraded to LED, more to come.

I'm a consulting electronics design engineer, some of my projects include tractor restoration, electric car design and audio equipment design.

Here are some pics of my projects:

    It's great to be here.

Do I understand you right that you have a 300 watt panel with batteries and running multiple Inverters of 300 to 1300 Kva? Please clarify.

You mean 1,300 VA not kVA. WOW, that would be a 1,300,000 VA inverter.
I did not design the system, just helped a friend with the installation. All the
equipment was purchased before I got involved.

The most panel current we have measured is 22 A, the 12 V pack is about 600 AH. The system has
a 300 W and 1,300 W sine wave inverter. The 1,300 W inverter is used for about 60 seconds with
the higher power loads and the 300 W is for the small loads. We just finished connecting the trailer
12 V system to the battery pack, all loads total 5-10 A. All light are LED's.

All was working great, until a bug got into the refrigerator propane igniter spark gap, after the
bug was removed it was fine. You could say the bug was caused by a bug.

This is my first solar project, all my high power experience has been with my electric car. My electric Beetle
has a 144 V battery pack and a 1,000 A speed controller. I built it about 30 years ago, with over 30,000 EV miles
I have not any failures as a result of my work.

If anyone can thing of any improvements or problems with the solar system please let me know.

      Thanks,
      Wayne
