    Hello from Austin, TX

After a little over a 6 month effort from when I first scheduled quotes from solar companies, our PV system went live this week. We have a 6.76 kW DC grid tied system using 26 260W BenQ (AUO) panels (PM250M01 GreenTriplex Black on Black) and a SMA Sunnyboy 6000US inverter. We have two roof mounted arrays (16 and 10 panels but they are wired as two 13 panel arrays) facing about 168 degrees each at a 35 degree pitch. Our inverter and panels are located on the south facing part of the house and then the ac current from the inverter is run thru the attic to the electrical service on the north side of the house. Our production is significantly above even my most optimistic forecasts. Using eGauge for system monitoring. Even the solar company (Circular Energy) who came out today to confirm all was working well was surprised as this is their most efficient system they have seen. We are currently producing about 38kWH per day (our usage is about 30kWH right now). We have had excellent bright and sunny days this week so this will probably be our max daily production in the Winter. Our system was purchased with a very significant rebate from our power company, Austin Energy, and a US tax credit of 30%. Austin Energy uses a Cost of Solar tariff (adjusted annually) instead of Net Metering. Disappointed that the COS was reduced this year from 12.8 cents kWH to 10.7 cents. Thanks in general to this forum which I used quite a bit in my research as I knew nearly nothing about PV technology seven months ago.
