Have the prices for individual solar cells gone up in the last 3 or 4 years?

I remember when I first started looking if you bought a pallet of cells from one US manufacturer (can't remember which one ) they were about $0.50 a watt when you bought $500 or more, is this no longer the case?

Mike is right, larger cells means less places for something to go wrong. Also If using larger cells, then you will have more surface area collecting sun light and less of your panel will be devoted to space between cells and bus wire. certainly more efficient.

Hay Mike , You have trouble with bigger cells also. Like 6x6's

Also, beware, smaller cells mean many more small solder joints to make (and have fail) and then you need some sort of frame, rack or something to mold them into.

started a topic hello, looking for small cells

    hello, looking for small cells

    Hello
This seems to be a good place to find out some things that I'm working on. No guarantee that I will be of much use TO you soon, but hopefully we'll see about that later. I'll do my best.

I have quite some unused area on the pilot house roof of my steel sailing vessel and I plan to cover this with solar cells. For this purpose I'm looking for suitable solar cells. Suitable means in my case:
    1) efficient
    2) small (i.e. not 6'' or smth like that), so that I can fill small corners.
    3) that I can buy them (several hundred) as a consumer

I will be happy to post this thread in one of the topical subfora, if this is required.
