  • Best way to power <4w water pump for cat fountain

Hi, can anybody help? I've got a cat-it water fountain for the cat (he's fussy about water). I wondered seeing as it's low powered (less than 4w) and near a window if it would be cost effective and practical to use a solar panel to power it.

I found an outdoor solar panel plus water pump kit and from the picture it even looks like it uses the same pump but apparently is only 1.5 watts and on the cat-it website they say their pump uses less than 4. I won't link to the sites as not sure if it's against the rules. Can anyone please help?

Can't sleep so writing this from my bed using my iPhone. Sorry if there are any spelling mistakes!

    Relax. Get a different cat.

Solar power only works daytime. Start adding batteries, charge controller, inverter and outdoor panels and wires, you will be way over budget. Figure $300 will be the basic starting point.

For the last 4,000 years, cats have been able to drink out of bowls. Don't let some wacko advertiser trick you into thinking only moving water is safe.
